Privacy Policy

Criticflix ("the app," "we," "us") is developed and operated by an independent developer, not a company. This policy explains what information the app collects, how it's used, and the choices you have. Criticflix is a companion app for looking up ratings and writing reviews about movies and series on streaming services such as Netflix, Prime Video, and Disney+ — it is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or a streaming service of any of them, and it does not stream video content.

Information we collect

What's collected depends on how you use the app:

• Browsing as a guest. You can use most of Criticflix without creating an account. A guest session is assigned an anonymous identifier so your preferences (see below) can be remembered on your device — no personal information is collected.
• Creating an account. To submit reviews, you need an account, created either with an email address and password, or by signing in with your Google account. If you use Google Sign-In, we receive the basic profile information Google shares for that purpose (your name, email address, and profile photo).
• Content you provide. Reviews and ratings you submit (including the review text, star rating, and the title you're reviewing), the genres, country, and streaming services you select, titles you like, and your chosen avatar are stored against your account so they sync across your sessions.
• What we don't collect. Criticflix does not request your precise location, contacts, photos, payment information, or browsing activity outside the app, and does not run advertising or analytics tracking.

How this information is used

• To let you sign in and keep your reviews and preferences synced to your account.
• To display your reviews (and a display name derived from your account) to other users, since reviews are a shared, community-visible feature of the app.
• To personalize the titles shown to you based on your selected genres, country, and streaming services.

Where your data is stored

Account authentication and app data are stored using Google's Firebase platform (Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore), which provides industry-standard security, including encryption in transit and at rest. We don't run our own servers for this data.

To look up ratings, synopses, and other public information about titles, the app queries third-party movie/TV metadata providers (including OMDb). These requests are for public catalog information only — no personal or account information about you is sent to these providers.

Your choices

• You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete Account in the app. This permanently deletes your profile, preferences, and reviews.
• You can stop using the app and browse only as a guest, without an account, at any time.
• You can contact us (below) to ask what data is associated with your account or to request its deletion.

Children's privacy

Criticflix is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
